It’s only fitting that I’m re-uping the blog after a 1-year hiatus with this track. This has been the soundtrack to my life for the past months. The way I found it was pretty awesome too. I first discovered it on my birthday, 12/8/2018, two years ago. Didn’t listen to it much. I was prepping for a DJ set and re-stumbled upon this gold and it has been on repeat since…
I love when songs make their way back to you when you need them most.
Happy / ever after / is what we thought
Hotel Garuda – One Reason (feat. Imad Royal & Kiah Victoria) [SNBRN Remix]
This mix was on repeat for two years. I remember when I discovered it in 2014, and the rest is history. When I like something, I don’t just like it. I LOVE it. And I will obsess and repeat and repeat again. Get familiar with this Magic Tape, and keep an ear from 16:30 if you want to hear where my heartbeat really begins…. If you know you know.
I’ve started realizing that when I meet new people, they pretty quickly become subjected to my current music obsession. RÜFÜS for example. In the past 2 weeks, I can think of 3 random people I’ve met that have been sent some RÜFÜS to check out. It’s kinda hilarious. But I do see it as a benefit for them because I’m pretty certain they would never have encountered these treasures in their lifetime otherwise.
The best part about this version is that it’s a slight twist on the intro from the original. And if you’re not listening closely enough, you will miss it. If you catch it, you’re my heartbeat. ❤
This remix has a lot of meaning for me. The lyrics + the beat. It’s a completely different feel from the original and effectively a different song. Still not over it no matter how many times it plays, and the best is when it comes up on shuffle like it did tonight. Perhaps you hear a song at exactly the moment you need to.
Gnash – I Hate U I Love U (feat. Olivia O´Brien) (stalbr Remix)
In honor of officially locking down my Coachella ticket today, I give you RÜFÜS DU SOL. But not just any song the gen. pop. could get on Spotify. I’m all about the underground remixes in the dark, dusty corners of SoundCloud, where I’m lost in a deep rabbit hole of one jam that led to another, and then I hear something that rocks me just a little bit more that it causes me to look twice…. See if you can keep up. 🙂
